Abuse in many forms: Flouride is meant for cavity prevention and enamel rejuvenation. Too much can be a bad thing. Brush 2x daily and remember to floss! physical prevention is more important than chemical. Try alternating act at night and prohealth in the morning or other times you want to freshen breath. Overusing flouride will definitely not be useful against excessive grinding.

Don't swallow it!: Fluoride applied topically by toothpaste, rinse or gel will not pose tooth related problems such as discoloration etc. However in high doses, Fluoride can be toxic when ingested. Therefore, brush, rinse etc. Then spit out as much as possible and you should be ok! (just remember daily flossing is many times more effective than brushing and rinsing with flouride.
