Soak and bandage: Post ingrown nail removal, soak your foot in epson salt water (1 tbl spoon to 1 liter) for 15-20 daily, then cover the operative area with triple antibiotic ointment and bandaid daily. Shower with bandaid on. Go about normal life. Repeat daily for 4-5 days then stop all soaking and only use the bandaid. Good luck.

Ask your doctor: Your podiatrist should have provided you with post-procedure instructions on aftercare. Typically you would need to soak your foot in epsom salt soaks and apply an antibiotic ointment or cream. Often foot specialists will prescribe amerigel to apply to the area after an ingrown toenail removal. You need to keep a bandage on the toe until your next follow up visit with the doctor.

Follow directions. : Your doctor will likely give you instructions on how to care for your nail after the procedure. Follow those directions (probably soaking, covering with bandaid, open-toed shoes and the like) and if you need a reminder, call the office with questions. They'd rather hear from you now than have to deal with a complication later.
