Yes : It can take quite a while and in fact there is nothing to say that it will heal even at a year or more but most of these things do gradually get better over time good luck.

Make sure of it: Make sure that what you are being treated for is actually what it is. If you are not sure, then consider another opinion. Four months is a reasonably long enough to treat an inflammatory condition conservatively. Other testing may be needed, and other interventions may be warranted by the results.
