Likely bursa: Think you nailed the diagnosis. The infrapatellar bursa can get irritated and swell with increased squatting, kneeling, or crawling. Bursal tissue is always present, so when the swelling decreases it can still be felt. At times the swelling will also cause fibrotic tissue to form, which feels rubbery and mobile. The catching is just a space occupying lesion. If it hurts, see orthopedic surgeon.
