A member asked:

Gram negative rod blood infection after c-section; where it came from why it happened; do i have organ damage; they treated it 5 days after c-section.

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Infectious diseases: Blood stream infections by "gram negative rods" are often what we now call "healthcare associated infections" or hai's. Seen in hospitalized patients with indwelling urinary catheters or central venous lines. Patients who are chronically ill or immunosurpressed and those hospitalized for extended periods of time are more susceptible to these infections.
