Myelomalacia: Myelomalacia is the end damage findings on mri. No surgical treatment for this type of damage is available. If the cause of the damage is a herniated disc or bone spur (osteophyte) still compressing the spinal canal or spinal cord itself, surgery can be performed to prevent further damage. Please discuss the difference with your surgeon.
