Yes: Osteomyelitis is caused by infection localized to an area of bone. Symptoms often develop gradually and may be localized, such as pain, swelling and redness or generalized like fever. Causes include spread from a local area of infection, direct innoculation following trauma or surgery and seedind from a blood borne infection.

Yes: The most sensitive part of the bone is the membrane called the periostium on the surface. Osteomyelitis tends to push this up from the bone causing quite a bit of pain.

Can be: If pus in bone is under great pressure bone pain is likely to occur. if cortex or perisoteium of bone contains abscess formation pain is also an issue due to pressure. Sometimes purulent material can cause infarction of bone , another sometimes painful process.
