Protaglandins: Prostaglandin is a hormone secreted by the lining of the womb that acts on the uterine musculature to cause cramping. There are prostaglandin inhibitors available like ibuprofen(motrin) and naprosyn (naproxen) sodium(anaprox) that can help. If they don't work see a gyn md as it may have another gynecologic cause.
