What's a good way to stop my 1 year old from sucking a pacifier?

Try this: Make a game out of it. On the day you want your child to quit, say, this will be the last day for your "whatever nickname" you give the pacifier. Then follow through. Throw all of them away, check everywhere to make sure all are gone. This is the only way i've tried that works.
