Low is good, but...: The complications of diabetes are exacerbated by high blood pressure. Lowering BP reduces these complications, and studies suggest that lowering it down to 120/80 continues to yield benefits. But at what cost? If it takes 5 medications to accomplish this, and if you get dizzy when you stand, such a BP may not be worth the risk. Similar to a1c. Not everyone can get an a1c of 6 without risk.

Blood pressure contr: Blood pressure control is important to everyone. Diabetics are at added risk for cardiac and renal disease especially if hypertension is present. The exact numbers as to where BP should be are constantly being reviewed and updated. Not every patient should be at the same "number". Your physician who knows your medical record is the best resource to determine where you should be.
