Topical steroid : A contact dermatitis is most commonly treated with a topical steroid cream or ointment. If there are any crusted or blistered areas, a topical antibiotic such as Mupirocin is also used frequently. Finally, if it is severe, a course of oral steroid is sometimes necessary. See a dermatologist for appropriate prescription treatment. Over the counter Hydrocortisone is not strong enough in most cases.
