A member asked:

Can water be behind eardrum for months if it hasn't taken out, or it should be dried by itself?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Otitis media: Fluid behind the eardrum may persist for up to 12 weeks following inflammation. Medications are not particularly good at clearing this up although decongestants may make you feel better. If you have persistent symptoms it is best to see someone. Ear tubes may be indicated for some.
