Mrcp shows dilated pancreatic & bile duct. upper abdominal pain & nausea. scheduling eus, now what? been going on since 5/31/2012. what can i expect from eus? i had this done in 7/2012 & pancreatitis

This is the best test to eval for pancreatic masses or othe pancreas problems. Also makes the pancreas easier to biopsy. If you have not had a ca 19-9 drawn- this can be a helpful test to eval for pancreatic cancer as well. Pancreas problems can be hard to find- keep testing.

The test: Those two dilated ducts come together in the head of your pancreas near a structure called the ampulla. Fine anatomy in this area cannot be seen on a ct scan or MRI scan. For the test you will be heavily sedated. The doc will put a endoscope with an ultrasound imager to look at the fine details. You will be out. Could be scar from past pancreatitis, or a mass, a tumor or cancer.
