SJS and pigmentation: Stevens-johnson syndrome affects the junction between the epidermis and dermis, the top two layers of the skin. When this junction is disrupted, the pigment that is in the epidermis, falls into the dermis. Once the pigment is there, it takes a long time for it to disappear. It will eventually fade and may go away altogether. However, some spots may stay a very long time.

Hyperpigmentation: This sounds like post inflammatory hyper-pigmentation which is a common condition for certain skin types; the skin turns dark after it becomes injured. This usually fades with time, but may need some help with bleaching creams. Some skin responds well to intense pulsed light treatments. This has to be done with great care or the skin may hyperpigment again in response to the treatment.
