Dr says that stress and tension can cause inflammation of the tendons/muscles of the neck, and as a result, the lymph nodes can swell slightly -1cm?

Any inflammation : Could cause enlargement of lymph nodes. If they are less than 1 cm in size, they are almost always not "pathologic" meaning it is very unlikely they harbor disease such as infection or malignancy.
