A member asked:

What is the normal size of lymph nodes under neck? can too much stress cause the lymph nodes get bigger?

Under 3 cm: Bigger than 3 cm is cause for interest, but more concerning are rapidly-enlarging nodes that are not tender, or that are fixed to surrounding structures. Neck nodes shrink and grow seemingly for no reason.

1 cm or less: Lymph nodes under the neck are the 1st line of defense against bacterial and viral illness from the mouth. They form a protective barrier from the germs our mouth is exposed to. It has been a busy season with viral illness. If your are swollen then they are busy fighting infection. See your doctor if they are large and you are always tired.
