Could laser surgery on varicose veins cause numbness in the feet ?

Ask your surgeon: Surgeons are the best people to ask about post surgery complications. I have not heard of this happening. The most common cause of feet numbness is likely diabetes. There can also be a nutritional deficiency. See your doctor to get it straightened out.

Possible: Numbness and tingling along the shin of the treated leg may occur. This usually resolves within several weeks. It turns out that some sensory nerves run along side the veins treated with the laser and these may become "stunned" for a while after the procedure, causing the numbness.

Could be: If the numbness is on the leg that was treated, then it is certainly possible. If it is both feet, and only one leg was treated, then the cause of the problem is likely to be something other than the vein treatment.

Laser and numbness: Lasering of the great and small saphenous veins can cause numbness of the feet. The saphenous nerve supplies the inside portion of the foot and the perineal nerve supplies the heal and lateral foot. The heat of the laser can irritate either or both of these nerves resulting in foot numbness. Fortunately, this numbness is usually temporary and self limiting.
