Is there a good treatment for hepatomegaly / liver enlargement?

Sometimes: Liver enlargement has many causes and finding the cause is the key to treatment. Treatment may result in return to a normal liver size. For example, if enlargement is due to congestion from heart failure, than treating the heart problem will allow the liver size to improve. However, in many cases the liver remains enlarged even after the disease process is arrested. See a gastroenterologist.

Find the cause: One needs to first know the cause of the hepatomegaly before embarking on a treatment. Talk with your family doctor, internist, or liver specialist first.
