Thick skin to ignore: Just , if 'some says something nasty to you ' if you get intense grief that means you are too sensitive , unable to cope up , most likely need professional help ( psychiatrist ) and no shame in seeking , how ever for some tragic events having intense grief then it is different normal reaction.

Forgiveness: I think the best way to help yourself if the situation allows is to forgive. Holding grudges and bottling it in does us a lot of harm. If that is not possible then venting it friends or counselors or even journaling could help. Good luck.
