Can you explain why aren't thyroid levels checked like insulin levels?

Thyroid checks: Thyroid levels should be checked more frequently. Hypo or hyperthyroidism can creep up on someone and people can be sick for years before it becomes apparent. On the other hand, i almost never measure Insulin levels. For obesity/insulin resistance, it tells you nothing that you don't already know, and will not affect treatment.
