A member asked:

Can you get cancer from a hemoroid?

No but...: Hemerrhoids are swollen veins. They could be external or internal. They may be caused from straining and constipation. Symptoms include bright red blood per rectum and/or pain on bowel movements. Hemerrhoids do not lead to cancer. However, new onset rectal bleeding/constipation can also be associated with rectal cancer. If you have these symptoms, please discuss colon cancer screening with an md.

No: Hemorrhoids do not turn into cancer. However, anal cancer can sometimes be mistaken for hemorrhoids. See your doctor or surgeon to be sure.
