Maybe nothing: Can't give you accurate advice since this question needs to be answered after radiographs have been taken and your specific situation evaluated. Seek the advice of a local dentist.

Depends: The answer depends on your age, the position and/or malposition of the teeth, whether or not there is any existing pathology or problem with the teeth or surrounding structures, as well as your oral hygiene skills.

1 in 7: There's a 1 in 7 chance that there will be morbidity associated with an impacted tooth. Best advice requires an examination and imaging of the impaction. Go see your General Dentist or a wisdom tooth expert, a specialist Oral Surgeon.

Experience: Like I have said before, "this ain't my first rodeo. " based upon your x-ray and clinical health presentation, we can determine the potential outcome for your surgery. On healthtap, it's really just an educated guess based on your age that you tell us. Good luck!

What to avoid...: A soft healthy, nutritious diet is always better than ice cream and shakes, but you also need to be somewhat careful. Avoid hard, crunchy foods that might not break down in your sockets like nuts, popcorn shells, seeds, cellulose, etc. You might also want to avoid yogurt with live cultures until any gum flaps and your sockets close later. I have seen 2 infections in yogurt "enthusiasts".

Please tell me, are you supposed to pull your wisdom teeth?

Only if .....: Your wisdom teeth are in poor position, heavily decayed or are causing problems with adjacent teeth. Pre-historic humans typically had a longer jaw that could accommodate 3rd molars but today, most people do not have enough room for them so they need to be removed. See your dentist or oral surgeon for evaluation.

What are the pros and cons of getting your wisdom teeth pulled?

Many: If you do not have room for them to erupt and be properly maintained for life, then they should be extracted. Sometimes the upper ones remain encased in bone and are of ne consequence -- they are often left in place. Problematic areas are most commonly the lower ones. If they are impacted, partially erupted, or not cleansable -- have them out. They offer no functional chewing. Older = harder extn.

It doesnot: You will be completely numbed before your dentist will perform the extraction surgery, so there is no pain.
