Benzoyl peroxide: This is the best over-the-counter remedy. Your physician has others. Retinoic acid derivatives are great especially if there are blackheads / comedones. Topical Clindamycin is an effective addition to benzoyl peroxide and clears most mild and many moderately severe cases. If you are responsible for a young person with acne, please get them the most aggressive treatment required. Good luck.

Scientific Rx: If topical benzoyl peroxide as tolerated has not cleared you in two weeks, get with your personal physician. A topical or systemic antibiotic, spironolacton, a retinoic acid derivative, or for the tough cases Isotretinoin are all worth considering. The oral contraceptive pill if right for a woman may clear her.
