Dr. Clarene Cress
Specializes in Pediatrics
Scars vs acute acne?: Unsure whether you are looking for acne treatment, or repair of scars from previous pustules or cysts. Basic treatment for mild acne starts with a retinoid and antibacterial, ie, benzoyl peroxide or antibiotic topically or orally. For more severe acne, Accutane is very effective but needs to be monitored carefully. Dermatologists may do dermabrasion or injections to reduce scars.
