Depends: For healthy low-risk people, the tummy tuck and the breast procedure can reasonably be combined at the same anesthetic (i.e. Breast biopsy, breast lift or breast implant). Otherwise, you can have it as soon as you are feeling well after the tummy tuck - probably about 4-6 weeks later.

Wait Varies.: Often, patients choose to undergo both breast and tummy tuck surgery at the same time. Depending on the patient, this combination of surgery can usually be accomplished safely. If you wish to stage the procedures, your plastic surgeon will be your best resource when it comes to the interval time to wait. This time period may vary based on the patient's specific circumstances….

Sometimes none: Many times breast and tummy procedures can be combined depending on your health, weight and the complexity of each of the procedures. If you decide to separate into two stages i recommend my patients wait 2 months before the next procedure to allow the first one to be well healed. There is no consensus on this so tell your plastic surgeon about your concerns and see what s/he recommends.

Why Wait?: If you are healthy there is no reason that you dont have both operations at the same time.

Surgery<6hrs vs age: There are issues to consider when staging or combining surgical procedures that include assessment of the extent of tummy tuck (mini, marriage, full, extended, circumferential, etc) as well as complexity of the breast procedure. This must be weighed against your age and overall health and planned surgical facility and anesthetic techniques. As a general rule, many mds prefer to limit surgery 6 hrs.

Do it together: We commonly perform breast and abdominal surgery at the same time. It saves recuperation time and often times money for multiple facility and anesthesia costs. It will increase your recovery time, but will usually be only a day or two extra. Ask your md if they can be done at the same surgery.
