Size is one way: Primary teeth are small, secondary teeth are larger. A dentist can tell you for sure without any guessing.

Different anatomy: Size, shape, color, texture of the enamel, position in the arch, appearance on x-ray. All dentists are trained to know the difference, so ask your dentist to point out any remaining baby teeth to you. As baby teeth should have all fallen out by about 12-14, is underlying permanent tooth congenitally missing or present but impacted?
