One of my family members has a different blood pressure while lying down and sitting up on a long flight. is it something related to the economy seat syndrome?

No: Your family must be very small to be able to lie down in economy. In any case it is common to see the blood pressure rise upon standing to get the blood to the brain, if the blood pressure falls upon standing dizziness may result. These (change in position) changes are useful in determining causes of low blood pressure and fainting.
