When should a baby start brushing his teeth?

When teeth erupt: You should start cleaning your baby's teeth just as soon as they start to erupt. Use a soft baby toothbrush without any toothpaste. If you do use toothpaste do not use any toothpaste wit h Fluoride in it because they will swallow it. Your baby will want to chew on the toothbrush, this is normal. Even when they want to brush the, selves it is important that you also do it for them.

6-8 month old: Teeth should be brushed as soon as the erupt, and that happens usually when the baby is 6-8 month old, that is when front lower teeth erupt followed by front upper teeth an so on.

ASAP: It's wonderful to teach your child good oral hygiene habits as young as possible. As eye-hand coordination for brushing (and talk to your dentist about amount and kind of toothpaste) isn't there until 5-6, and flossing coordination takes till about age 10, you have to do the cleaning. Let your child help, but you have to do it. As soon as 1st tooth erupts get to dentist for instructions.
