How long should we brush teeth if they're baby teeth for? our son just has a handful of baby teeth, and i would like to know what the right time to be brushing them is. it's not as long for an adult, is it?

Start : Start as soon as you can. The sooner you get him used to it, the better. Start with a finger toothbrush and progress to a baby toothbrush as soon as he will let you. Do your best to make a game of it. Get character toothbrushes and he will want to brush his teeth.

If : If you shoot for 2 minutes, you might get 30 seconds. At this age, as long as possible. Build habits of long brushing sessions so your child will know to be thorough....

2 minutes: Ideally, 2 minutes by the clock 2x/day, on awakening and before bed. Do not brush for 1 hr after eating/drinking anything acidic. Do not put child to bed with bottle containing anything but water. Children who see a pediatric dental specialist by age 1 have 40% less dental expenses by age 5 than children who wait units 2-3 to see a general dentist. Call for 1st appt now.
