Regurgitation : The 2/4 is a semi quantitative description coming from from listening to the murmur or seeing a doppler picture of the mitral regurgitation. Best to ask the person who used the term what they meant, it has lots of personal variation.

How to tell if mitral valve regurgitation is getting worse?

Echo: An echocardiogram (fancy ultrasound of the heart) is the main tool for following mitral regurgitation. Also maybe even more important is the presence or lack of symptoms. As mitral regurge gets worse usually you get tired easier. The amount of activity to make you short of breath becomes less and less. You may not be able to lay flat and may have to sit up to breathe. Your dr can help.
