A member asked:

What can i do if my baby has an under active thyroid, anyone know anything about it?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

We know lots: Pediatricians and endocrinologists know lots about underactive thyroids in babies. The infant is first tested just 1-2 days after birth in every state of the usa to determine if they have enough thyroid hormone. Without enough, there can be very serious consequences such as poor growth, poor brain growth and lack of appropriate development. If detected, replacement therapy and follow-up with docs.
