Acceptable: There's no contraindication to lap chole in cirrhotics, unless they are in the advanced child's c class, where it should be avoided unless absolutely necessary. We try our best to manage these patients with percutaneous drainage as opposed to surgery. Mortality in child's a and b patients is 0-4%, but conversion to open procedure is about 6%. Good luck.

Variable course: The survival rate depends on a number of factors, including the cause of cirrhosis; is the cause persisting, what treatment is being administered, how compliant is the person with the treatment.
