Depends: Severe toothache can and does elevate the blood pressure, specially when accompanied by anxiety of going to the dentist. But, having said that, it is always more prudent to have your BP checked by your primary care physician. If they give you the go ahead, then make sure you have your teeth checked by your dentist, and have him/her treat any dental disease.

Possibly: Any stressful situation, such as dental pain, anxiety about dental visit, etc., can cause an increase in blood pressure. I assume your dentist checked your blood pressure at the start of your visit and found it to be slightly elevated. Not unusual. Have it checked again once life is back to normal.
