A member asked:

How come autistic people have such sensitive hearing?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Sensory issues: Many people with autism also have difficulty dealing with different sensory inputs. The most common of these problems is sensitivity to loud noises. They can also be sensitive to crowds, lights, different kinds of clothing fabrics, etc. They can easily become overstimulated. This can often be helped with sensory integration training provided by qualified occupational therapists.
