A member asked:

How likely is esophagual cancer from long term gerd?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Lots of factors but: ...there is no guarantee that any anti-reflux treatment or procedure will prevent progression to Barrett's or its dysplastic transformation. Happily, only a minority of GERD sufferers ever develop Barrett's, and only a very few of those progress to cancer. Certainly, don't smoke, and do heed your doctor's advice.
