Yes: Protein powder may cause kidney damage and acute renal failure. There are no good studies done in persons using protein powders that i know of. However, I have seen acute kidney failure in a 23 year old very healthy man who used them. He recovered with no other treatment besides stopping protein powder. Would not use them! eat a balanced diet and may do short term high protein natural diet.
