Neuropathy: High blood sugars can damage nerves in the periphery. This called peripheral neuropathy. Diabetics are at risk for neuropathy. Discuss with your doctor, get tested and if needed you may get medications that help with the pain you are feeling.

Veins?: Aching feet in diabetic arouses concern for peripheral neuropathy. Also to be considered are varicose veins, engorged by blood after the warm water has dilated leg blood vessels and then the person stands upright and walks around. The hydrostatic pressures in leg can make soft tissues of feet and leg swell impinging nerves. Podiatrists and vascular surgeons can differentiate these problems.
