Bananas: Bananas are on the high end of the glycemic index. Moderate consumption, single bananas, should not cause blood sugar spikes. If you are diabetic, your serving size should be smaller.

Yes - but...: The american diabetes association says you can eat bananas w type ii diabetes. 1 medium sized banana has 27 gm of carbohydrates ; only 1.29 gm of protein. So, you need to be judicious.
