A member asked:

What would be better to treat staphylococcus in a premature infant?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Culture sensitivity: If you know the baby has staph, then a culture was done. I assume they also checked to see what antibiotics would work for this particular bacteria. You base treatment on that. Overall, most of time vancomycin is used for staph infections of neonates, but again this is a case by case answer dependent on culture results and other treatments and cares your infant is getting.
