Don't wait: If your pain is severe enough that it keeps you awake warrants a visit to your doctor. Flank and bank pain are signs of kidney stones or kidney infections. Can't tell without a physical exam and some blood and urine tests. See your doctor. Don't delay.

Not likely your : Kidneys but a possibility. If you are considering the possibility on a kidney infection you would be quite sick with fever, nausea, possibly vomiting, burning when you urinate etc. It would be wise to see your internist for a thorough physical exam and then decide how to proceed.
