A member asked:

Should you inhale or exhale while lifting, or it doesn't matter how you do it?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Weight lifting: It does not matter a lot whether you inhale or exhale, but most people find that taking a deep breath and expanding the chest fully gives a better base for their arm and shoulder muscles to work during the lift. That is, in anticipation of a lift, most people naturally take a deep breath in, do the lift, and then breathe out as soon as the lift is accomplished.
