Yes: There is a basic rule for parents to follow when treating diarrhea. Nothing red!, unless you want the stress. Red gareraid , koolaid or tropical punch are all poor choices for these kids. Diarrhea as a word means "running through" & that is what the red dye in these preparations do.

Yes: It is definitely possible for dyes in foods to alter stool color. Discontinue the gatorade and if the stool turns back to a normal color than gatorade is the most likely cause. It is important to determine if the red color is from blood in the stool. Please consult your pediatrician if the stool does not return to a normal color and also ask if gatorade is an appropriate drink for your infant.

Gatorade: The sugars in gatorade can cause diarrhea and the red dyes present in the juice can turn the stool red. Aside from the diarrhea it can cause it can cause tooth decay and all in all it represents wasted calories for you child when he should be eating nutrious food.
