Not exactly: Patients can have pain similar to biliary colic after cholecystectomy, not due to contraction of the gall bladder against resistance, but due to such entities as: cystic duct syndrome, sphincter of odi spasm, stricture of the extrahepatic bile duct system or primary or retained common bile duct stone/sludge. You need studies such as mrcp and ERCP to determine the cause. A GI consult is needed.
