There is no secret: The only way to reliably lose weight is burn more calories than you take in. That will require exercise to increase your metabolic rate, and scaling back some of your intake. It really doesn't matter how much you eat, as long as you burn more than you take in. There are many exercises you can to to burn calories that will also help strengthen your core in hopes of avoiding back surgery.
