What's worse for sleep and has a more negative effect on sleep, alcohol or benzodiazepines?

Probably alcohol: Alcohol definitely disrupts sleep cycle, plus has many other potentially problematic effects on the body. Especially when used chronically benzodiazepines can interfere with deep restorative sleep. So while both can be problematic, i agree with dr. Amawi about alcohol being the worst troublemaker for sleep.
