Yes. can be treated: Large abscess needs to be cut open and pus needs to be completely drained out. Antibiotics will help, but antibiotics alone are not usually enough. Your son may be self-inoculating the germs from one infected area to a healthy area, and thus causing abscesses one after another. Lately an increasing frequency of methicillin resistant bugs are causing infection, and it may not respond to usual meds.
