Doctor can examine: Boils come in many sizes, such as 1/8 of an inch up to more than an inch. They can be anywhere in the body. Usually, it should take a few days to dry up if a tiny pimple, but a doctor should check it out if there is any reason to worry, of if the boil isn't merely a tiny one. People with multiple or recurrent boils can be treated with antibiotics and tested for resistant bacteria or other issues.

Culture: A culture of the lesion may reveal a bacterial source. Other considerations include CGD, an immune defect. Keep the skin clean and dry, and please follow up with your pediatrician for evaluation of possible recurrent infection.
