Assume it is spraine: I have to assume they took x-rays so they would tell you if it broken. Rice method rest, elevation, ice compression.. Glad you survived the accident. If you don't trust the er see a foot and ankle specialist. Did they at least immobilize the ankle?

I assume that x-rays: Were taken. If negative, then there is no broken bone. You can always seek a second opinion for someone else to take another look at the x-rays. Get a copy from the hospital and bring them with you. Sprains and breaks are both painful, it is difficult to tell from the pain alone whether something is broken or not.

Consult: Stay off of it and seek a doctors appointment or referral. You'll need to get it evaluated properly. I hope they gave your crutches, if so, try your best to stay off your side that hurts. I hope that helps!
