A member asked:

Can you explain the importance of aldosterone in someone's health?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Adjust chemistries: Aldosterone is important for adjusting the amount of salt excreted in the kidney. Too much salt excreted can cause low blood pressure and too little salt excreted can cause hypertension. Aldosterone is also important for regulating potassium excretion in the kidney. If blood potassium is allowed to go too high or too low, people can have life-threatening abnormal heart rhythms.
