Physiology: Hi. Aldosterone is primarily there to regulate renal handling of sodium, potassium, and acid. Urine concentration/osmolality is more a function of anti-diuretic hormone (ADH) regulating tubular luminal (phenobarbital) water channels and the ambient solute gradient in the loop of Henle. Water follows sodium in general, but the kidneys place quite a degree of regulation on this, so aldo has trivial effect on conc.

Im a 30 year old male. I had a high random urine sodium level of 80 mmol/L. My sodium blood tests have always been low or low normal the past few years. Could this be a low aldosterone problem or a hormone problem or low cortisol?
